Operational Briefing

Have you ever walked away from a conversation convinced you were the problem — even though you knew something felt wrong?

That's not a personality trait. It's a pattern with a name.

DARVO stands for Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender — a documented response pattern that shows up in relationships, workplaces, and institutions. Once you can see it, you can respond to it.

The Framework

What Resistance Looks Like

The DARVO Resistance builds tools, language, and frameworks for recognizing coercive dynamics and responding with agency instead of getting pulled into the reversal. Not therapy. Not a hustle. An operational approach — systems, patterns, decision points — to a problem usually discussed only in emotional terms.

The DARVO Pattern

Three Stages, One Operation

Coercive tactics follow a predictable sequence. Understanding each stage is the first step in resisting it.

Deny — Accountability

The Provocateur refuses facts or responsibility, establishing manufactured doubt before the conversation can proceed.

This is the D in DARVO: an outright refusal to acknowledge what happened, so the conversation never gets past whether it happened at all.

Attack — On Credibility

When denial no longer holds, the Provocateur shifts attention to the Resistor's character, memory, motives, or stability. The goal is no longer the facts. The goal is to make the Resistor the subject of the conversation.

This is the A in DARVO: the target of the conversation changes from the original issue to the person who raised it.

Reverse — Victim and Offender

The reversal is completed when the Provocateur presents themselves as the injured party and the Resistor as the aggressor — and responsibility moves with them. The Resistor isn't just recast as the wrongdoer; they inherit the burden of proof, the apology, and the repair.

This is the RVO in DARVO: the roles fully swap, and so does who is expected to make things right.

The Response

Not Numbers. A Practice.
